Update: Alyson Dudek International Ice Center

ice Rink 2018

Wednesday, March 27 2019

I'm very pleased to report that the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool are 75% of the way there with our fundraising for constructing our projects in Hales Corners Park in 2019.

The Milwaukee County Parks Department requires that we have all of our project funds in the bank before the project can commence. The challenge we face is that labor and material costs are going up every year.

Please see the link below for the updated project flyer.

Thank you for your time!

Letter to Community

Sunday, March 10, 2019

Please read the letter in the lin below from Jerry Johnson, Owner, MKE Property Detailing, Hales Corners, Wisconsin and consider utilizing his services.

My guess is you will be as surprised as I was when I first read this unsolicited letter. Wow!

Jerry's community spirit, generosity, and neighborliness seems to be catchy these days in the Village of Hales Corners.

Meaning- that Suburban Asphalt Company in Franklin has been an awesome supporter of the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool over the last year just as MKE Property Detailing has been.

Suburban coordinated two fundraisers on behalf of the Friends in Hales Corners Park last summer and has helped numerous times this winter season with clearing the snow off the temporary Alyson Dudek International Ice rink and is committed to helping us raise the remaining funds for our projects in Hales Corers Park. Thank you, Terry Buss, President, Suburban Asphalt for your friendship, support and community spirit. You guys are great!

Last spring, MKE Property Detailing cleaned all of the playground equipment, the inside of the kiddy pool and the deck area at Hales Corners Pool in Hales Corners Park over a period of several weeks at no charge.

Now this spring, MKE Property Detailing is offering our residents an affordable service at their homes and at the same time raising funds on behalf of the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool and our projects in Hales Corners Park.

Community Partner

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

Wow! Great news to share! Talk about a local business supporting a local non-profit! I have lost track of the number of times that Suburban Asphalt has assisted the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool this winter season with the ice rink. In addition, they have been helping the Friends for the last year raise the remaining funds for our projects in Hales Corners Park.

On behalf of the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool, the Milwaukee County Parks Department, the Village of Hales Corners and the surrounding communities please join me in thanking Terry Buss, President, Suburban Asphalt, and Don Crupi, (retired Greenfield paramedic & firefighter) for clearing the snow off of the temporary Alyson Dudek Ice Center in Hales Corners Park at 7:00 am this morning! Click the button below to see all the photos!

Veteran Driveway in Hales Corners

ice Rink 2018

Saturday, February 23:

Pictured are Phil and LuAnn and Isaac Bird on their driveway in the Village of Hales Corners.

The Calvary came all at once on Friday morning to Phil and LuAnn Bird’s house.

Terry Buss, President, Suburban Asphalt in Franklin joined me to address the ongoing piles of snow at the end of the Bird’s driveway.

At the same time Matt’s plowing showed up from Elm Grove to address the snow issue.

It appears this issue that has been in the news for weeks is resolved.

The Calvary will be on stand by to assist the Birds from this point forward.

Nov. 2018 Highlights

chipotle fundraser

Sunday, November 25: Exciting things continue to happen in Hales Corners Park. On November 11, 2018 the Veterans Memorial Committee sponsored the 7th Veterans Day Ceremony since the Memorial was dedicated in May 2012. Over 50 hearty souls showed up on the cold and snowy Veterans Day.

Michael Zens, Whitnall High School Band Director, participated in his third veterans ceremony and was terrific playing taps on his trumpet. Also, I was honored and privileged  that the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars allowed me to participate again this year.

Please read more and see thephotos in the link below from the month of November in Hales Corners Park.

New Park Bridge

Sunday, September 16: Above is a picture of the back of Hales Corners Park where the old and rickety bridge was over the creek.

A Hales Corners resident is working with the Milwaukee County Parks Department and the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool to have a new bridge built and installed. The resident is paying for the bridge in full.

This is another great example of the public - private partnership between the County Parks Department, the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool and the Village of Hales Corners working together now in year 16 to upgrade, improve, and reinvent every part of Hales Corners Park on behalf of Village residents and the surrounding communities.

When the new bridge is completed, photos will be posted.

Hales Corners Park Sets Ice Rink Trend

Sunday, September 16: Journal Times Staff - September 11, 2018

WATERFORD — Although the snow and ice have not come yet, those hoping to ice skate this winter will have something to forward to in Waterford.

The Waterford Village Board has approved the purchase of a 50- by 90-foot hockey rink and plans to have it built on a vacant lot at the intersection of Main and Milwaukee streets. An additional skating area for figure skating and free skating will be set up adjacent to the hockey rink.

No timeline for when the rinks will be open has been established.

Last year the village Department of Public Works set up a small rink in Whitford Park, which was popular with residents but was not widely utilized.

Village officials, staff and area nonprofits began meeting to share ideas and collaborate on events that will utilize several open, Downtown-area lots that the village now owns.

The village of Waterford is looking at ways to engage the public and create vibrancy in the one of the main shopping areas. Business owners have faced challenges over the past year during the village's utility infrastructure project.

The project is being done in advance of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's major reconstruction of Highway 20/83, which runs through the heart of the village.

Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017: The Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool 4th Annual Road Rally was quite a success last night! Please join me in thanking Bob Stollenwerk, Sue Kosiboski and Mark Redetzke when you see them around in our community. All three did an outstanding job organizing this highly successful fundraiser. Also, I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the continuing and wonderful support from our fifteen year partner, The Milwaukee County Parks Department.
